Japan's quake region holds samurai festival (AFP)

The festival, started more than 1,060 years ago, was forced to cancel two of its three key events as some of the venues are located in the 20 to 30 kilometre zone from the troubled nuclear plant, Fukushima Daiichi.(AFP/Jiji Press)AFP - Japan's tsunami-hit Fukushima region has kicked off a thousand-year-old horse festival, with riders in samurai armour defying an ongoing nuclear crisis to take to the streets and vow recovery.
